Nestled in the serene hills of Uttarakhand, Trijuginarayan Temple is a sacred site brimming with mythology, history, and devotion. Located near the popular pilgrimage of Kedarnath in the Rudraprayag district, this ancient temple is believed to be the exact place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married—witnessed by none other than Lord Vishnu himself.
According to Hindu mythology, after intense penance by Parvati, Shiva agreed to marry her at this very spot. The wedding was conducted in the presence of Lord Vishnu, who acted as Parvati’s brother, and the Vedic rituals were performed in the Trijuginarayan Temple courtyard. An eternal flame, known as the Akhand Dhuni, still burns at the temple’s front, believed to have been lit during the divine wedding and never extinguished since.
The temple’s architecture resembles that of Kedarnath, made with grey stone and adorned with intricate carvings. The peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by lush forests and snow-capped mountains, makes it a perfect spiritual retreat for devotees and explorers alike.
